Firebird Support Services Logo

Firebird Support Services is located in Sydney.

We are family owned and operated, founded by Star Jade, who has been diagnosed with Autism, Bipolar, Anxiety, OCD, PTSD & ADHD with first hand knowledge of how important good support services are.

We are focused on providing a range of support services for disabled, elderly, impaired, diverse, and vulnerable members of our community. We are dedicated to training and up-skilling our team of support professionals to provide the services needed within our community.

A new level of Support Services. Firebird Support Services has broken the mould & shaken off stereotypes in our industry.

We don't see staff as a number to fill a seat. Our team are paid 20% above award rates & receive an automatic 5% base rate rise for every 1,000 hours worked.

We break down the role of Disability Support into separate tasks such as cleaning, transport, personal care, cooking, social support & more. Staff are asked what tasks they are willing & able to complete so are only offered those shifts.

We also ask them their fears, phobias & dislikes so that we don't send them anywhere they will not thrive.

Shifts are created & made available for staff to claim, rather than staff being sent where they are not comfortable. We are flexible with workdays & times to suit the staff availability when needed instead of forcing staff to attend shifts.

Our happy staff in turn give wonderful support which means happy clients.

We use state of the art software to organise our schedule, communications & accounting.

Where we see a need, we work hard to fill it for example, we purchased a wheelchair vehicle for the Wollondilly as there was not one available. We recruit for staff if a client has a need we can't fill eg we recruited for staff experienced in PEG tube feeding & paid to train 3 of our staff to support the client.

Firebird Support Services was founded in 2022

Star- Jade found that there was a better way to assist disabled, elderly, impaired, diverse, and vulnerable members of our community.

Through her own personal struggles, Star-Jade knew what was needed and the best approach to offer these services to the community

By assigning staff with specific skills needed for each shift & ensuring they are well paid for their service, Star was able to create a solid foundation for her service with highly skilled and trained staff that enjoyed being a part of and assisting the community.

Star-Jade Laverty

Founder

Meet the incredible Star, the Founder of Firebird Support Services!

Behind the heart and soul of Firebird is Star—a remarkable nurse, neurodiverse mother of six, and a beacon of resilience.

Star's journey includes navigating life with Autism, Bipolar disorder, Anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and ADHD. Despite these challenges, she stands tall, turning her experiences into a source of strength.

Beyond her diagnoses, Star is a survivor—a true testament to the power of courage and perseverance. She's triumphed over the shadows of sexual assault, and domestic violence, emerging as a guiding light for those seeking hope and support.

Star's story inspires us to break barriers, challenge stigmas, and foster a community where everyone's journey is valued.
